Be open to your dreams, people. Embrace that distant shore. Because our mortal journey is over all too soon.David Assael

This memorial site was made to remember our son Brent Eric Heady who was born on August 1, 1977 in Murphysboro, IL in the United States. Brent came into this world a healthy 10 lbs 1-1/2 oz and 22 inches long bouncing boy.  We brought him home to Tamms, IL where his older sister April was waiting.  He soon grew into a fine young man full of life. His death came too soon on January 25, 1993.

Brent attended Egyptian Community School in Tamms, IL where he played drums in the band and sang in the choir.   His life was as normal as any child's could be. We his parents pastored a small church while he was young and then retired because of his father's health.  We started attending the church where his mother was raised and he became very active in the activities there.  When Brent was 12 he began a paper route delivering on his bicycle. Some days it took longer than others. We found out after his death that he would take time to talk to the elderly people he delivered to. They were surprised that someone so young would be interested in what they had to say.

After a year he gave up the paper route and started into his 8th grade year in Junior High.  On September 19, 1990 Brent was diagnosed with ALL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.  His only signs were back pain. Never in a million years did we think this could happen to us.  After the first round of chemo he was in remission. That lasted for a year and a half  then in March 1992 he relapsed from there everything went down hill.  Brent touched so many lives while he was in the hospital.  We are so thankful for the 15 years we had with him. His life was cut way too short and as a mother my heart is still broken.
